TRANSLATIONS-INTERPRETINGS.COM unterstützt FOLT-Initiative [German only]

Quality Seal in the Translation Industry by TRANSLATIONS-INTERPRETINGS.COM
... Of course are processes and tools important, but not exclusively. TRANSLATIONS-INTERPRETINGS.COM is persuaded that if the offices won't manage by translators and/or interpreters, who are delighted with the language and its subtleties, surely nobody can expect high quality. The competent translators and interpreters continue to be the most important part to ensure high quality and cost-effective translations.
Additionally, the translators and interpreters are the only part which mediates at the same time beside languages also cultures ensuring the best possible communication between people or rather countries. They won't call without reason intercultural communicators....
... The TRANSLATIONS-INTERPRETINGS.COM QUALITY SEAL may not be copied and/or used without permission. The copy and/or use is permitted only to TRANSLATIONS-INTERPRETINGS.COM members....

Bad Glück in Berlin Declaration translation
The Berlin Declaration, an EU document to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Rome, was presented by German chancellor Angela Merkel on March 25th. In the first paragraph of the declaration, the German word ''Glück'' - meaning fortune or happiness - is used, but the most direct translation has been avoided in other language versions of the declaration. The EUobserver reports that one professor is calling this ''political translation''.
However, in the translated versions of the text the word Glück has been given a less solemn treatment. ''We, the citizens of the European Union, have united for the better'', the more down-to-earth English version says. The word has also disappeared from the Danish version where Glück has been replaced with ''vor falles bedste'' meaning ''for the best'' and further down the declaration deviations in the Danish version that it cannot possibly be a coincidence, Henning Koch, a professor in constitutional law at Copenhagen University, told Danish daily Politiken. ''It would come as a big surprise to me if the translators are bad at German. So then it's a political translation'', he said about the Danish version. According to Mr. Koch, the German word Glück - used in the declaration to describe the good fortune of 50 years of peace and unity - is too big a word for the Danes to use. ''Great, gushing and emotional terms are something the Danes fear'', he said, adding that ''Danish pragmatism cannot handle that we are happy for the EU. But you cannot deny reality by turning around the words.''
The following are translations of the word ''Glück'':
auspiciousness
bliss
felicity
fortunateness
fortune
happiness
luck
luckiness
